Senior citizens tuition
Senior citizens (60 years or older) wishing to register for regular program classes will need to apply to ºù«Ӱҵ and be admitted to the program through the regular application process.
The senior citizens rate is available from the first day of classes until the final day of registration (if space is available). Seniors can register any time before classes start but will be required to pay full fees.
There are no senior citizen discounts available for continuing studies, distance education, trades and apprenticeship, or cost-recovery programs.
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: All potential applicants need to apply through the EducationPlanner BC website There will be a $30 application fee required (depending on the program).
Step 2: Once an applicant has gone through the admissions process and the student receives an offer of admission, and has paid the deposit, the student will be admitted to the program.
Step 3: Registering for University level courses:
Senior citizens will need to come into the registration or administration office at any ºù«Ӱҵ campus with government issued ID to verify the age requirement.
Once admitted to a program, if a student would like to register with a senior citizens discount, they will need to do so after the first day of classes. Students will have the ability to web register for courses. Withdrawal practices are also the same as any other student.
Step 4: Registering for a vocational program.
The office of the registrar registration team will register students for the program.

Is the senior rate applied to all the terms?
No, the summer semester is a cost recovery semester, and the senior rate does not apply. Regular tuition fees will be assessed.
Will the senior rate be applied automatically?
No, students will need to provide proof of age requirement by bringing in government issued ID to the registration or administration office. Okanagan college staff will need to apply the discount to the student record and inform the finance department to manually adjust the fees.
Is the tuition fees payment due right away?
Students can pay once their fees have been manually adjusted by accounts receivable. Once the senior rate has been adjusted, it will be visible in myOkanagan: Self-service > Student > Student account > Account summary by term.
Can I register for any program or courses and receive the seniors rate?
No, there will be no senior citizen reduction for any Continuing Studies, Distance Education, trades and apprenticeship, or cost-recovery programming.
Important note: Some vocational and trades programs are cost-recovery programs.
What other charges are applicable?
Seniors will be responsible for paying the ancillary fees included with each course. In addition, if a student is registered for two University level courses, the extended health and dental fees will be applied to their account. Seniors can opt out of the extended health and dental coverage if they have another extended health and dental plan.
Why do I get a prerequisite error message when I register?
Senior students will either submit an official transcript that they have successfully completed the prerequisite courses, do testing at Okanagan college testing center, or apply for a prerequisite or co-requisite waiver.
