Financial holds

As a student at ºù«Ӱҵ, it’s important to be aware of a financial hold and how it can impact your academic journey. A financial hold is a restriction placed on your student account due to unpaid balances. This can happen if you haven’t paid your tuition fees, library fines, or any other charges owed to the college.

If you’re placed on financial hold, several restrictions will apply:

No registration: You will not be able to register for any new courses.

No transcripts or grades: You will not receive your grades or transcripts.

No graduation: You will not be allowed to graduate.

Library access: Your access to library services may be limited.

To lift a financial hold, you need to pay off the outstanding balance, including any interest penalties. Once your account is settled, the hold will be removed, and you will regain access to all college services.

How can I pay the financial hold fees that are owing on my account?
The outstanding amount can be paid in person at any campus location though debit, cheque, bank drafts or money orders. Online banking payments are accepted and usually take 3-5 business days to transfer into your student account. Cash is strongly discouraged and not recommended due to security reasons. Please refer to your myOkanagan account to check your financial status.

Will the hold be removed after the outstanding amount owing is paid?
Yes, the hold will be removed once the payment has been entered onto your ºù«Ӱҵ account. You will then regain access to all college services.

How long will it take to remove the hold?
Once the student logs into their myOkanagan account and verifies that the payment has been entered in their student account, they can contact registration staff at any campus to have the hold removed.

I thought if we did not pay the tuition fees we would automatically be dropped for non-payment of fees.
Students should not rely on being dropped for non-payment as a method to withdrawal. To ensure a financial hold is not placed on an account, students will need to pay their tuition fees by the deadline. Or, if they wish to withdraw from courses, students will need to do so before the withdrawal date to get a refund or reversal of tuition fees.
