Assessments and proficiency tests 

At ºù«Ӱҵ, we offer various assessments and tests to help you succeed in your studies. You can take a skills assessment to identify your strengths and areas for improvement, a computer fundamentals test to ensure you have the necessary tech skills, and a keyboard/typing test to gauge your typing speed and accuracy. These assessments are designed to help you understand your current abilities and prepare you for your academic journey. 


Skills assessments for Adult Upgrading 

You can complete your upgrading skills assessments in-person in just 2-3 hours.  
Important note: If your pre-requisites were completed more than five years ago, you’ll need to take a skills assessment. 

Check the dates and times (here) for a campus near you. No appointment necessary, just show up!

Trades entrance assessment (TEA)

The trades entrance assessment is designed to provide an alternative entrance option for applicants who may not have met the required math and/or English requirements for a foundation program within the allowable timeframe or cannot provide official documentation proving such. You must apply for a trades foundation program and receive a response from admissions before you can register for this assessment.

Math proficiency testing 

A math proficiency test can be completed in order to satisfy the math admission requirement to the following programs: Associate of Science, Business Administration programs, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering Technologies Diploma, Electronics Engineering Technologies Diploma, Water Engineering Technologies Diploma, Infrastructure and Computing Technologies Diploma. Mechanical Engineering Technologies Diploma 

Keyboarding/typing test 

All typing tests are taken online in the comfort of your own home. An internet connection and a webcam are required. 

The Testing Centre offers typing tests for members of the community who are required to provide typing results for employment purposes. We also accommodate external students taking typing tests for admission into programs at other post-secondary institutions. 

ºù«Ӱҵ’s in-person English language assessment (ºù«ӰҵELA) test  
This assessment is for English as a Second Language students. New students complete the assessment to determine placement in listening speaking, reading and writing. This assessment is normally held on campus prior to the start of classes.

The answer is correct for Kelowna campus, but testing is also available at the other campuses. ºù«ӰҵELA is only available at Kelowna campus 
Important note: All typing tests and OADM program entrance tests are taken online in the comfort of your own home. An internet connection and webcam are all that is required. 

   

Where do I book my math proficiency test?  
If you wish to schedule a math proficiency test and live outside of the ºù«Ӱҵ region, please contact kelownatesting@okanagan.bc.ca for instructions. You will need to write your test in-person with a qualified invigilator at an academic institution.
